3:00 PM Meet the Music talk

3:30 PM Concert

Peter McGuire Principal Second Violin, Minnesota Orchestra

John Snow Principal Oboe, Minnesota Orchestra

Our fall concert showcases the influence of Baroque music.

After opening with a concerto grosso from the Baroque era, the ensemble performs J. S. Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin with two members of the Minnesota Orchestra—Peter McGuire, principal second violin, and John Snow, principal oboe.

The concert continues with works written much later but indebted to the Baroque style.

  • Concerto Grosso No. 6, by Charles Avison
  • Concerto for Oboe and Violin, by J. S. Bach
  • Vier Kleine Stucke, by Karel Husa
  • “Holberg” Suite, by Edvard Grieg

The concert begins at 3:30 p.m. in Sundin Hall at Hamline University. McGuire and Snow will join conductor Jim Hainlen for a pre-concert talk scheduled for 3 p.m.

Sundin Music Hall is located at 1531 Hewitt Ave, St Paul, MN 55104. More information is available by calling (651) 483-6094 or by emailing info@rosevillestrings.org.
